Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship

The Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship is offered by the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province in China to support international students at participating universities in the province. It is a partial scholarship that provides a lump sum toward tuition and accommodation, encouraging international study at Zhejiang’s higher education institutions.

The award is partial funding, providing an annual scholarship of 20,000 to 30,000 yuan toward tuition or living expenses (around 30,000 a year for master’s and above under Class A, or 20,000 a year for bachelor’s under Class B), renewable subject to academic performance. It is stackable with university scholarships, but it does not include a monthly stipend or free housing.

Eligibility is for non-Chinese citizens complying with Chinese laws and the host university’s rules, with good academic results and good conduct, and (often) some Chinese-language proficiency (for example an HSK certificate), who are not receiving other Chinese government scholarships. You do not apply to the province directly: you download and complete the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship application form, then complete your chosen university’s online international-student application, selecting the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship and uploading the required documents, by that institution’s deadline (deadlines vary by university). For international students aiming at Zhejiang Province, it is a useful partial award to combine with other funding.
