VLIR-UOS Scholarship 2027 (Belgium)
About this scholarship
VLIR-UOS (Flemish Interuniversity Council — University Cooperation for Development) scholarships fund Master’s programs and training programs at Flemish universities in Belgium for students and professionals from developing countries. The scholarships aim to contribute to the sustainable development of partner countries by training future leaders and change-makers. Programs are taught in English and cover fields including public health, water resources, environmental science, technology, development studies, and more.
Eligibility
- Must be a national of one of VLIR-UOS's 31 partner countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America (see official list)
- Must have a bachelor's degree with minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
- Must be under 35 years old at the start of the program (40 for PhD)
- Must demonstrate motivation and a clear plan to apply knowledge gained in Belgium to your home country
- Must be proficient in English (minimum IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 79)
- Must not have previously received a VLIR-UOS scholarship

How to Apply
- Be a national and resident of one of the roughly 29 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, within the age limit (no older than 35 for a bachelor's or initial master's, 45 for an advanced master's, as of 1 January of the intake year), not having previously held a Belgian-government scholarship
- Preference goes to those working in (or aiming for) higher education, government, or civil society; choose one eligible ICP Connect programme (taught in English at a Flemish university or university college) and apply directly through that programme's host-university admission portal, indicating that you are also applying for the VLIR-UOS scholarship, with transcripts, CV, motivation letter, and passport, by that programme's deadline (deadlines vary, often around February)
- You may apply for only one ICP Connect scholarship per year. The scholarship is full: tuition, travel, insurance, and a living allowance
